The Guckers have informed me that people who were there this AM (~10:30) were able to see the bird but people in the PM didn't fare as well. Could be due to good weather, Cooper's Hawk, bad luck; etc. If you are going to try for this bird, AM maybe better.

A Varied Thrush is visiting the feeder of Bob and Judy Gucker just south of McCutchenville, Ohio in Wyandot County. Bob called me this AM and described the bird which he had never seen. I drove down and observed the bird twice in a half hour around 2:00 PM. I was able to get several photos but they aren't sharp because I was shooting through a window with a screen on it.
They said they would not mind birders stopping to see the bird but please call first (419-981-2715). The feeder is on the north side of their home and is hard to see unless you are in the house. One maybe able to walk around the garage on the east side of the house and view the feeder. Their home is 575 State Route 53 and is on the east side of SR 53 about a half mile south of MCutchenville. It sits on a hill and the driveway is hidden by mature pine trees. The driveway goes up into these pines. There will be limited parking in the drive so if there are alot of birders, you may have to get creative. ![]() I have tried to paste a photo into this email but evidently lack the techo ability< id="gwProxy" ="">< ="jsCall;" id="jsProxy" =""> |
