I watched the lake for about an hour first thing this morning off the pier at Metzger Marsh. Winds were coming in strong from the NW. Hundreds of Red-breasted mergansers were flying by along with good numbers of Lesser scaup. The best birds of the morning at Metzger were a single Black scoter, 8 Common loons, and 52 Horned grebes. All birds were flying from east to west.

At Maumee Bay SP, there wasn't much to see, but about 20 Snow buntings were on the beach. Thousands of gulls were on the Maumee River at Farnsworth Metropark. Included were good numbers of Bonaparte's and no fewer than five Lesser black-backed gulls.
